Revolutionary Women In Blues

Shining a light on the women who changed culture
Why see Revolutionary Women In Blues?
Singin' The Blues
The Blues is the sound that defined America not just in music, but in culture, community and rebellion for generations. Still to this day, the reach of the Blues extends far beyond its Deep South origins, with so many musical and cultural identities the world over able to trace their ancestry back to the Blues. And yet, the pioneering women who helped to make that happen are often forgotten, in lieu of their male counterparts. Revolutionary Women in Blues rights this wrong, spotlighting the stories and music of the female blues artists who helped spark a wave that changed the world.
Women who changed Music Forever
This celebration of the most iconic women in blues includes the music of "The Mother of the Blues" Ma Rainey, "The Godmother of Rock & Roll" Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and the "Empress of Blues" Bessie Smith. Performed by the show's creator, soul singer Divine Brown, along with an ensemble of talented performers and musicians, come and enjoy this tribute to the women who made the blues!
