Why see National Ballet of Canada - The Beginning of Forever?
Another Stunning Entry
Leading choreographer David Dawson has consistently captivated audiences across the world in recent years. Now, having become resident choreographer at the National Ballet of Canada, he presents his first commission in the role, the transcendental Beginning of Forever. Spanning the entire evening, the work explores the emotions and metaphysical forces that make us human, through beautifully expressive dance set to music by Peter Gregson, with glorious costumes by Yumiko Takeshima, set design by Eno Henze and lighting design by Bert Dalhuysen.
The Beginning of Forever forms the third of a trilogy, comprising Dawson's previous works works Anima Animus - based onpsychiatrist Carl Jung's famous defining of the human collective unconscious - and The Four Seasons - reimagining Vivaldi's iconic concertos through dance set Max Richter's evocative re-score - provided breathtaking distances to which modern ballet could be pushed. A breathtaking night at the ballet.
