Two works made for the National Ballet
The National Ballet of Canada unveils a brand new work by acclaimed choreographer Jera Wolfe created specifically for the company, as well as a returning performance of Helen Pickett's triumphant Emma Bovary! Wolfe's new offering follows the success of 2020's Soul, while Pickett's work is bolstered with new scenes, bringing freshness to the 2023 work!
Helen Pickett worked together with theatre director James Bonus to create Emma Bovary, which explores the psyche of the main character from Gustave Flaubert's highly influential 19th-century novel, Madame Bovary. The work includes an exciting original score from award-winning composer Peter Salem and is a striking and sensitive exploration of the human condition.
