The Myth & Magic Of Anastasia Captured In Dance
For 100 years, the speculation shrouding Anastasia the Russian Grand Duchess continues to fascinate and thrill audiences the world over. Did the seventeen year old survive the bloody revolution that claimed her family only to be cast out into a life of obscurity? This gripping question lies at the center of resident artistic director Bengt Jorgen's Canada Ballet Jorgen revival, which heads out on its 10th anniversary tour of US shores in early 2018.
Replete with vibrant costumes, dynamic stage design, sublime lighting and an all original score by Russian/Canadian composer Ivan Barbotin, Jorgen's acclaimed choreography unravels the mystery behind Anastasia's tragic story, charting the modern mythology of her incredible coming of age journey from a life of luxury in St. Petersburg, torn away by the terror of the anti-tsarist revolution, to the big wide world that waited beyond the palace walls.
