Square, Princess, Oval, precious gemstones come in all types of cuts, but none so exquisite as the National Ballet of Canada's rendition of Jewels. Created by George Balanchine in 1967 for the New York City Ballet, Jewels comprises three parts, Emeralds, Rubies, and Diamonds, with each act being set to music from different composers. Emeralds to Gabriel Faure, Rubies to Igor Stravinsky, and Diamonds to Tchaikovsky. This performance will mark the National Ballet of Canada's first staging of the complete work in nearly two decades, so don't miss out on the most opulent night of a lifetime!
Balanchine has often been called the father of American ballet and was one of the founders and longstanding artistic director of the New York City Ballet. He was the recipient of several awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art.
