A Stunning Revival
It is widely acknowledged that Puccini's La Boheme is one of opera's greatest masterpieces, for 2019 the Canadian Opera Company bring back their infamous production, courtesy of John Caird, in a stirring and beautiful revival.
First performed in 1897 La Boheme follows a group of starving and passionate artists as they navigate the trials of love, loss and poverty. Directed by John Caird, La Boheme features some of the most beautiful music ever composed by Puccini, featuring the ever beautiful "Oh Sweet Girl" duet, "Yes, They Call Mimi" aria and "What a Frozen Little Hand" aria. David Farley lends his hand to the stunning and enchanting set and costume design, evoking the Belle Epoque period.
What is La Boheme about?
In this classic 'boy meets girl' story poet Rodolfo falls madly in love with the fragile and dying Mimi, meanwhile his painter friend Marcello reconnects with his former lover Musetta. As jealousy plagues both relationships will these young lovers be able to keep their love alive?
