The new version of "The Phantom of the Opera" boasts inventive staging, stronger presentation of the story and warmer orchestrations that don't seem to be relying so heavily on 1980s synthesizers.

That was Mozart. That! That giggling dirty-minded creature I had just seen, crawling on the floor!

Why See Amadeus?

Madness & Envy in Vienna

Peter Shaffer's Tony-Winning play shines a fictional light over classical music's greatest composer, imagining his rise to the top in Vienna, and the intense jealousy it inspires in his rivals. Highly theatrical, witty and stunning, Amadeus not only highlights Mozart's genius, but also that of the late Shaffer.

Rock me: Whats the story of Amadeus

Inspired by the music of Mozart, fellow composer Antonio Salieri is desperate to meet the man behind the sound. However, his tastes are soured when he discovers the 'genius' is uncouth, lacking the charm he feels should accompany the talent. Desperate and jealous, he decides to bust into Mozart's inner circle, presenting a kind face, while attempting to sabotage him at every turn.
