Musical theater classic Annie enjoys a local Lower Ossington Theatre revivial
Leapin' Lizards! Everyone's favorite flame-haired, pint-sized heroine is back and she's sharing her thrilling adventure with theatregoers thanks to the Lower Ossington Theatre company this fall. Punctuated by classic Broadway tunes like Hard Knock Life, Tomorrow and Maybe, Annie first captured hearts and minds on the Great White Way in 1977, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical, running for six years thereafter and spawning multiple revivals and local productions in the years since.
The rollicking tale follows the feisty orphan Annie, whose gumption and optimism goes far to boost the morale of the other inhabitants of the orphanage she lives in. Reigned over by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan, Annie is given a chance for a better life when business magnate Mr. Warbucks adopts her, but she entreats him to help her find her parents instead. WIth a $50,000 reward at stake, a couple of con artists emerge from the woodwork claiming to be Annie's biological mother and father...
