Platinum-Selling Soul

Formed by singer and rapper CeeLo Green and producer Danger Mouse, Gnarls Barkley were originally active between 2006-2008. Straddling the boundaries between soul, psychedelia, funk, pop, alternative R&B and beyond, the collaboration didn't exactly launch the pair's careers - Danger Mouse had already made waves with The Grey Album mashing up The Beatles with Jay-Z, while CeeLo was already two albums into a solo career - but it did prove beyond any doubt that they both artists at the top of their game; their debut single "Crazy" achieving overnight worldwide success, and the album St. Elsewhere went double-platinum. After putting the project on hold in 2008, the pair returned in 2026 with a third album, Atlanta, slated as their 'final' album capping off a remarkable period in both men's careers.
