You read that right - Styx & Reo are hitting the road. These two giants of 70s rock both saw huge success in the 70s and 80s, and now they are back together on the Live & UnZoomed summer tour, and bringing along Loverboy for the ride.
Led by songwriting talents of Dennis De Young, Tommy Shaw and James Young, Styx racked up hit after hit, swinging from dirty, riff-heavy rockers, to open-hearted soaring ballads at the touch of a button, with their biggest numbers including 'Babe', 'Mr. Roboto' and 'Boat on the River'. These hard rocking Midwesterners are the stuff of legend! Formed in 1967, the Illinois-raised REO Speedwagon topped the charts with their 1980 album 'Hi Infidelity', which became the soundtrack of a generation, and further spawned the emotional rock ballad 'Can't Fight This Feeling.'

Good, not great (but fantastic weather)
Loverboy - started slow, but Mike's voice got stronger as the show went on and ended up very strong. With several anthem songs, great way to start.
REO - Still great vocals after all these years, but at times a bit weak on guitar. They like to play a "heavy" set now, almost feels like they shun the hits, but enoyable.
STYX - Gowan is an amazing technical singer, but he just does not bring the necessary emotion to Styx songs. You see that when he does his own Criminal Mind, which was the highlight. For the rest, it feels like a really good cover band, it never feels quite right. ... Read more

Hometown hero Lawrence Gowan, the piano-playing, jig dancing and frequent lead vocalist of Styx, was the unchallenged star of the evening, as the band he joined after giving up his solo career (“A Criminal Mind†- performed at the concert - and many more) returned to Toronto to headline a 3-band show with 1980s’ Canadian hit rockers Loverboy and REO Speedwagon.
I’ve seen Styx before Gowan and with Gowan several times, but never was he (or his predecessor, Styx co-founder Dennis De Young) such a centrepiece of the band’s show before. His gregarious comments, sylph-like sweeps across the stage, piano fills, powerful vocals and physical gymnastics helped the the band through a near 2-hour set of mainly the best known songs from their glittering catalogue of music.
From the opening “Rocking the Paradise†to the final encore “Renegadeâ€, Styx had the 15,000 in attendance on their feet all night.
Loverboy opened with a solid set of hits and curios, and REO followed - not very exciting. ... Read more

Perfect Rock Night In Huntsville
Driving 100 miles to see not only Rock Legends I grew up with but also the brand new Orion Amphitheater that seats 8000. Was not disappointed in any way. A perfect night for an outdoor concert. As the owner of an original vinyl record of all three groups, the concert was a treat. Loverboy started it up and rocked the night with all their hits and I was loving every minute of it. After a quick set up change (15 min.), REO came on and was absolutely amazing. Kevin Cronin was energetic and lifted the show to new heights. Styx followed and loved all their hits but they did play a little more of their recent album offerings while leaving out a couple of their greatest hits. Still great and Tommy Shaw, an Alabama kid, can still bring it. Really a great show! ... Read more
