Alan Doyle

You won't have more fun at a concert than seeing Alan Doyle. His new band (The Beautiful Gypsies) are a fantastic group of musicians/singers. They all get showcased and seem to have a great time together. I was just at the show at Massey Hall Feb 24th and they played some Great Big Sea songs, some from their 2 albums as well as some traditional songs. The crowd is on their feet clapping and singing along most of the concert. We will probably try to get tickets to Alan Doyle tickets anytime he's passing through...I can only imagine how much fun it would be to see him in Newfoundland. Something for the bucket list! ... Alan Doyle isn't just a Major Canadian Performer. He's a Major Performer

From the first second of the show Alan Doyle & the Beautiful Beautiful Band had fans at Bud Stage on their feet, raucously roaring (Come Out with Me / We're Gonna Love Tonight), jigging (Lukey / The Night Pat Murphy Died), crying (Laying Down to Perish), blues-rocking (Testify), counting (1 2 3 4), and even a sea shanty (Bully Boys). Whether his solo material or Great Big Sea's (End of the World, When I'm Up), every song was a standout. Band members have bucketfulls of talent & had plenty of solos to showcase. We even had a visit from BNL's Ed Robertson. The icing on the cake: we'll all be in Mr. Doyle's new video as they revealed Welcome Home for the very first time live. Fantastic tune. One ovation, we were treated to Ordinary Day and a beautifully stretched out version of Dancing With You. Will I see Doyle again live. Absolutely! ... Read more
