Obsession, tragedy, and bloodthirsty ambition form the heart of Verdi's take on Macbeth, bringing a taut tale of murder in the Scottish highlands to the Four Seasons Centre in spring 2023. Presented in a new production from the esteemed director Sir David McVicar, Quinn Kelsey and Sondra Radvanovsky star as the doomed Lord and Lady Macbeth in this thrilling premiere from the Canadian Opera Company.
What is the story?
Thought to have first been performed in 1606, Macbeth is the story of a Scottish general who receives a prophecy from three witches that one day he will rule all of Scotland. Consumed by the idea, Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth do whatever it takes to make the prophecy come true, even if that means blood on their hands. But of course, their actions have consequences and both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are driven into a state of madness before an explosive finale.
