The Broadway Hit Comes To Ontario
Spend an evening in the company of musical legends Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley whilst reliving one of the most exciting nights in rock 'n' roll history! Floyd Mutrux's Million Dollar Quartet made waves on The Great White Way in 2011 and now it brings its Broadway magic to Toronto with an all-Canadian cast this holiday season.
The effervescent jukebox musical garnered much critical acclaim when it debuted, garnering three Tony Award nominations by the end of its run and going on to spawn a US tour. With a score made up of hits like Blue Suede Shoes, Great Ballls of Fire and Walk the Line, the show's selection of classic rock hits from the unlikely quartet has ensured its lasting success.
What Is Million Dollar Quartet About?
One fateful night in Memphis, 1965, the paths of Cash, Perkins, Lewis and Presley cross at Sam Phillip's Sun Records Studio. Record producer Phillips, now hailed as having a hand in the creation of rock and roll, has brought the icons together for an impromptu-jam-turned-one-off-recording-session that still holds a myth-like status today. Dubbed by a reporter as the Million Dollar Quartet, the outfit not only share an evening of music but bare their souls in this boundlessly joyful celebration of the spirit of early rock.
