The British obsession with the weather takes center stage in Toronto this September as Olivier Award-winner David Haig's highly regarded play comes to the Ed Mirvish Theatre. But, a story just about the weather it is not as Pressure presents a historical account of the allied meteorologists charged with the most important forecast in the history of WWII, that of June 6th, 1944, D-Day.
In a tense, yet extremely thrilling performance, Haig stars as Group Captain James Stagg, sombre Scot and Chief Metrological Officer for the allied forces. As the proposed date for the biggest amphibious landing in history approaches, he and his team battle against General Dwight D. Eisenhower (Malcolm Sinclair), who wants to give Hitler his due as soon as possible. But with 350,000 lives at stake, Stagg is not taking this assignment lightly, refusing to gamble against the notoriously changeable British weather.
Raising itself above other WWII-set plays with originality, comedy, and drama, Pressure is a must-see this 2020/2021 season.
