Kushnir's plays are gritty, moving and sometimes funny. The use of language is astounding.

Plays

A Play on Radical Hope

From an all-girls school in India seeding a feminist revolution, to a youth theatre in England on the eve of Brexit, to an after-school club in the midst of Greece's refugee crisis, TOWARDS YOUTH travels the world looking for radical hope in the classroom.

As adults struggle with democracy, violence, climate change young people are taking action. TOWARDS YOUTH offers an unexpected window onto the hopes, fears, and dreams of young people, in their own words. Join a powerhouse cast and creative team for the world premiere production of TOWARDS YOUTH, playing at Leslieville's remarkable new arts centre, Streetcar Crowsnest.

Originally commissioned through a ground-breaking research project lead by internationally recognized professor and researcher Dr. Kathleen Gallagher of the University of Toronto, Towards Youth is the result of two years of worldwide travel that acclaimed playwright Andrew Kushnir undertook with Dr. Gallagher, visiting high school drama classes in cities in England, Greece, India, Taiwan, and Toronto. The finale in an ambitious season of programming for Crow's Theatre, TOWARDS YOUTH is a must-watch theatrical experience directed by Siminovitch Prize-winning director Chris Abraham.
