The Canon Theater has been renamed the Ed Mirvish Theater in honor of one of the city's most beloved citizens. Officially transformed to the Ed Mirvish Theatre by his son David, a trasformation that was discussed with 'Honest Ed' Mirvish before his death in 2007.
Chosen because of its cultural importance, and history of name changes, the Canon Theater was the perfect choice of venue to honor the late department store mogul who had become the most influential theatre figure in the city's history.
