Includes favourites by Santee Smith, Carol Anderson, Colin Connor, Kim Frank and Deborah Lundmark, and a world premiere by acclaimed Gadfly artistic director Ofilio Portillo, whose highly charged street dance background promises a fresh new take on age-old solstice traditions.

Cast

Deborah Lundmark, founding artistic director and resident choreographer of CCDT, has created more than 50 works for her company including collaborations with Danny Grossman Dance Company, Toronto Children's Chorus and Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. FromStreet Songs (1981) to Dancing Day (1989), Platform Blues (2004) and Precipice (2010), Deborah has impressed audiences and critics alike with the dynamic creativity of her choreography twinned to the technical virtuosity of her dances.

From Barrie to Beijing her repertory company has shared the works of many of Canada's most exciting and exacting modern and contemporary choreographers.

Creative

Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre is a Toronto repertory company founded by Artistic Director Deborah Lundmark and Managing Director Michael deConinck Smith in 1980 to present gifted next generation artists in professional productions. CCDT dancers enjoy performing the work of such dance luminaries as David Earle, Carol Anderson, Danny Grossman, Margie Gillis, Peggy Baker and Peter Chin in forty shows annually. As part of the company's Ontatio Arts Access they have introduced 180,000 students to contemporary dance, from Windsor to Kenora. Other highlights include appearances at Toronto's Princess of Wales and Royal Alexandra Theatres for the Creative Trust and Danced for Life Galas, tours to Singapore, Malaysia and China, and five invitations to the Canada Dance Festival.
