Joseph The Iconic Kaleidoscopic Musical
One of the veritable classics of the Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice canon, Joseph transferred from the West End to Broadway in the early 80s, paving the way for an international success that has spawned multiple productions, tours and feature films. Filled to the brim with memorable musical theatre classics like Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door and King Of My Heart, the powerhouse production enjoys a locally-produced run at Toronto's Lower Ossington Theatre.
The biblical tale of Joseph from the book of Genesis gets a kaleidoscopic update, replete with a genre defying score that fuses elements of rock and roll, calypso, jazz and unadulterated pop. Born into a family of twelve brothers, Joseph rises quickly to become the favorite of his father's sons, causing much jealousy. When his father bestows an incredible multi-colour coat on Joseph, his brothers hatch a plan and sell him into slavery. Yet Joseph has a special gift that sees him undertake a journey of soul-searching proportions.
